Exterior styling
Audi's mantra, Vorsprung durch Technik, truly comes to life in the design of the new Audi R8 Spyder, which is crafted with precision by Audi's hand-picked engineers. The forward position of the passenger compartment, the highly accentuated wheel arches and the long back define the classic silhouette. The athletic design includes a lightweight cloth hood that tapers into two fins which stretch the cloth. The hood can be opened and closed in 20 seconds at speeds up to 31mph thanks to an electro-hydraulic drive while the rear window, which is sunk into the bulkhead, can be retracted and extended. Add-on body components such as the front spoiler, the diffuser and the new sideblades are also available in carbon while LED headlights with newly developed laser technology maximise visibility and range for the driver, bringing increased safety at night.
Interior styling
The Audi R8 Spyder re-writes the rule book when it comes to high-performance sports cars. Sport seats for the driver and passenger come as standard and can optionally be upholstered in exquisite diamond-pattern leather. Alternatively, bucket seats can be fitted as an option that provides a highly contoured seat shape and better lateral support. The controls can all be operated with the multifunction and satellite push-buttons meaning the driver never needs to take their hands off the steering wheel or look away from the road. Audi virtual cockpit, MMI navigation plus with MMI touch and Audi smartphone interface all feature as standard. And for that perfect atmosphere, Bang & Olufsen speakers feature throughout the interior with two head restraint loudspeakers integrated into each seat to provide and excellent audio experience.
Engines and performance
Just 3.5 seconds is all that's needed to take the Audi R8 Spyder to 62mph from a standstill. From here, the Spyder climbs to a top speed of 200mph, peaking at 550Nm of torque. The roar of the V10 engine becomes more passionate as the revs rise providing breathtaking performance and a thrilling drive. Behind this powerful engine, the driver electrically controls a seven-speed S tronic with lightning-fast action. A newly designed quattro drive system and a water-cooled all-wheel clutch keep you in complete control.
Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus
The most powerful Audi engine, the 620 PS V10, is now available in the Audi R8 Spyder making this model capable of accelerating to 62mph in just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 204mph. It has a 70PS power advantage and a 25kg weight reduction compared to the standard V10 Spyder. Performance driving mode, R8 bucket seats, ceramic brakes and carbon components feature as standard.
